A Bit About Me
Sometimes life can be challenging. I am here to help.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is treatment for the mind in motion. We will use our relationship to uncover unconscious material that could be inhibiting your present internal and relational experiences. I will use supportive (building your ego) and uncovering (making conscious the unconscious) techniques that may stir positive and negative memories and feelings. The goal of our work is to understand the impact of the unconscious on our conscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, (from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: a clinical manual by Cabaniss et al., 2013) to promote and achieve the changes that you strive to achieve for yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
All the Answers You Seek, In One Place
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the referral process?
Self-referrals are welcome and do not require a formal referral from a doctor. I also accept referrals from other health care professionals.
Duration of appointments
Unless otherwise specified, appointments are 50 minutes in length. Sometimes it is helpful to have a longer session which may be discussed if required. The 10 minutes I am not with you, I am writing your case note and reflecting on your therapy. I currently offer online psychotherapy sessions depending on availability. In person psychotherapy sessions will be available shortly.
Are therapy fees covered by OHIP
Psychotherapy services provided by registered psychotherapists are not covered by OHIP but may be covered by some private extended health insurance plans or workplace benefits. Please consult your individual healthcare insurance plan to determine the extent of coverage provided.
Fees that are paid without coverage are tax-deductable as they qualify under the category of medical expenses.
How do I pay?
Payment is due at the beginning of each session and can be made in cash, interact e-transfer or by credit card. If you choose to pay by interact e-transfer you must complete the transaction online three hours before your session starts to allow for enough time for the payment to be processed before your session starts. A receipt is issued when payment is received and upon request. Please retain these receipts for your insurance or income tax claims.
What is the policy for cancelled or missed appointments?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cannot make an appointment, please let me know 48 business hours prior to your scheduled time. The full fee will be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments. Insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for cancelled or missed sessions.
Is my confidentiality protected? Are there limits to confidentiality?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.
However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:
● Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
● If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
● If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
● If another professional, such as a dentist or a doctor, abused you, we are required to report it to the appropriate authorities.
How long will I be in therapy?
Everyone is different. Some individuals might feel ready to close after a few sessions, while others may stay in therapy for months or years. Therapy length depends on many factors such as one's goals, connection with the therapist, developmental history, symptoms and symptom history, level of impairment, motivation level, and many others. You decide when you start therapy and when you are ready to end your therapy.
